Aspen has been a favorite carving wood in the mountain states and these sticks are very easy to carve or they may be simply sanded and finished. They carve as easily as Basswood and they are very light and strong. The wood is very light in color with occasional small branches which can be sanded off to add interest and color to the stick. Aspen walking sticks are completely dry, and 1 1/4"-2" in diameter and 57" long.

Sassafras makes a light weight, strong walking stick and it is easy to carve or decorate. The wood is a light brown with orange inner bark and dark outer bark. 1" to 1 1/2" diameter, 52"-54" length.
